Ordering a custom vehicle wrap in Huntsville? Here’s what to expect from design to install at Allied Digital Printing.

You’ve seen them everywhere — the HVAC truck with the clean logo pulling into your neighbor’s driveway, the landscaping trailer with bold lettering on Research Park Boulevard, the food trucks around town that practically sells you lunch before you read the menu.

Vehicle wraps work. You already know that. What you probably don’t know is what actually happens between “I think I want a wrap” and driving away in a vehicle that works for your business 24 hours a day.

We’ve been doing this at Allied Digital Printing since before wraps were even a category — back when it was hand-cut vinyl lettering on work trucks and magnetic signs. Today, we design, print, and install custom vehicle wraps entirely in-house at our shop on University Drive/Governor’s. That matters more than youmight think, and we’ll get to why.

Here’s what the process actually looks like.

Step 1: The Conversation

Every wrap starts with a conversation, not a shopping cart. We need to understand what you’re trying to accomplish before we talk about anything else.

Are you a one-truck operation trying to look established? A growing company that needs fleet consistency across twelve vehicles? A food truck owner who needs a full wrap that makes people hungry from fifty feet away?

These are different problems with different solutions. A partial wrap with clean lettering and your phone number might be exactly right for one business. A full-coverage, high-impact wrap might be right for another. We’ll talk through what makes sense for your goals, your vehicles, and your budget — honestly.

This is also when we’ll need your logo files. And here’s a friendly heads-up from our design team: the version of your logo you use on your Facebook page is probably not the file we need. We work with vector files — AI, EPS, or high-resolution PDF. If you don’t have those, that’s okay. Our graphic designers can help rebuild what you need. We do this all the time.

Step 2: The Design

Once we know what you’re after, our design team gets to work. We create a digital mockup of your wrap — a visual proof laid over an image of your actual vehicle make and model so you can see exactly what it’s going to look like before anything is printed.

This is where details matter. We think about where door handles fall, how the design flows across body lines, where windows break up the graphics, and what your wrap looks like from the angles people will actually see it — beside you at a red light, behind you in traffic, across a parking lot. Good wrap design isn’t just graphic design. It’s spatial problem-solving.

You’ll get revisions. We don’t expect you to love the first draft — although you might. We refine until you’re confident, because once we print, we want you to be thrilled, not just satisfied.

Step 3: The Print

Here’s where Allied is different from a lot of shops in the Huntsville area: we print in-house on our HP Latex 800 wide-format printer. That’s not a detail we mention to sound impressive — it directly affects the quality and durability of your wrap.

Latex ink technology means vibrant, saturated color without the harsh solvents that some older print methods use. The prints are scratch-resistant, UV-stable, and rated for outdoor durability. We print on premium Avery Dennison vinyl — an industry-leading material known for its conformability around curves and complex surfaces, clean removability when it’s time for an update, and consistent color performance over years of sun exposure.

A lot of wrap shops in town don’t print at all — they outsource the print to a third party and only handle the install. That means your project passes through extra hands, extra timelines, and extra chances for miscommunication. At Allied, the same team that designs your wrap walks it over to the printer and checks the output against the proof. There’s no middleman. That’s by design.

Step 4: The Prep and Install

Printing the wrap is only half the craftsmanship. Installation is where experience shows.

Before any vinyl touches your vehicle, the surface is thoroughly cleaned and prepped. Any wax, residue, or contaminants on the paint will compromise adhesion — so this step isn’t optional and it isn’t rushed.

Our installers work methodically, panel by panel, using heat to stretch and conform the vinyl around curves, recesses, and edges. A good installation means no bubbles, no lifting corners, and seams placed where they’re practically invisible. This is hands-on, skilled work — the kind of thing that takes years to get right and about five seconds to spot when it’s done wrong.

Depending on the size and complexity of the wrap, installation can take anywhere from a few hours to a full day. We’ll coordinate timing with you so your vehicle downtime is minimal.

Turnaround: What’s Realistic

From approved design to installed wrap, plan on about two to three weeks. That includes print production, lamination, and scheduling the install.

Can we move faster for urgent projects? Sometimes, yes — talk to us. But we’d rather set honest expectations than overpromise and cut corners. Your wrap is going to be on the road representing your business for years. A few extra days of patience on the front end is worth it.

How Long Will It Last?

With Avery Dennison materials and proper care, you can expect five to seven years of strong performance from a full vehicle wrap. Partial wraps and decals can last just as long. The biggest variables are sun exposure, how and where the vehicle is stored, and whether the wrap is maintained with basic care — we’ll walk you through that at delivery.

When it is time to update, the wrap can be professionally removed without damaging your vehicle’s factory paint. In fact, the wrap has been protecting that paint the entire time it’s been on.

What Does It Cost?

We’re not going to drop a flat number here, because the honest answer is: it depends. A set of door decals with your logo and phone number is a very different project than a full wrap on a 26-foot box truck.

What we can tell you is that every quote from Allied is straightforward. We’ll break down design, materials, and labor so you understand exactly what you’re paying for. No hidden fees, no surprise upcharges.

If you want a ballpark to plan around, give us a call at 256-539-2973 or send us photos of your vehicle and a rough idea of what you’re envisioning. We’ll get back to you quickly with a realistic estimate.

Why Allied

We’ve been in Huntsville since 1970. That’s not a marketing line — it’s a fact. We’ve watched this city grow from a small aerospace town into one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the Southeast, and we’ve grown with it. The businesses we wrap today are the same ones whose parents and grandparents came to us for letterhead and business cards.

We design, print, and install under one roof. We use premium materials from Avery Dennison. We print on professional wide-format equipment that lives in our shop, not someone else’s. And we stand behind our work — because the name on our building has been on University Drive for over fifty years, and we plan to keep it there.

If you’re thinking about a vehicle wrap for your business, let’s talk. No pressure, no hard sell — just an honest conversation about what’ll work for you.
