Free Classroom Materials for Huntsville - Area Schools

Every day, Allied Digital Printing runs large-format printers, plotters, and flatbed cutters to produce signs, banners, and vehicle wraps for businesses across North Alabama. That process generates leftover material — foam board, corrugated plastic, vinyl, canvas, and magnetic sheeting — that’s too good to throw away but too small to use on the next job. In the print industry, we call it “drop.”

For years, that drop went into the dumpster. The Classroom Scrap Program changes that. Instead of sending usable material to a landfill, we sort it, pack it into kits, and deliver it to local classrooms as free creative materials. Kids get supplies. Teachers get a ready-made project. And good material stays out of the waste stream.

No cost to the school. No obligations. Just a Huntsville print shop sharing what it has with the kids who live here.

How the Program Works

The Classroom Scrap Program

1. We Build the Kit

Allied pulls materials from our daily production drop — foam board pieces, Coroplast sheets, vinyl offcuts, canvas scraps, magnet strips, and a handful of stickers. Every kit is a little different depending on what we've been running that week. That's part of the fun — no two kits are exactly alike. Each kit also includes a simple activity sheet with a suggested project idea, so teachers have a ready-made creative session waiting in the box.

2. We Deliver It to Your School

Allied delivers the kit directly to your school. No pickup required, no scheduling headaches, no cost. We bring it to you. Around the first of the month.

3. Your Students Make Something Amazing

Use the materials however you want. Art projects, science fair displays, classroom decorations, math manipulatives, free exploration — you know your students better than we do. The activity sheet is a starting point, not a rulebook.

4. Share If You'd Like

If your class makes something cool, we'd love to see it. A few photos or a quick quote from you helps us tell the story on our website and social media — and gives your school and students a well-deserved spotlight. This is always optional, never required.

what’s in a kit?

What's in a Classroom Materials kit?

Kit contents vary based on current production at our Huntsville print shop. That’s what makes each kit unique — and so much fun — the materials reflect real work being done for real businesses in the community. Every item in the kit is production-grade material that would otherwise be discarded.

waste reduction

Less Waste, More Making

Large-format printing generates material waste by nature. When we cut a custom sign from a four-by-eight-foot sheet of foam board, the leftover pieces have no commercial use — but they’re perfectly good material. The same goes for vinyl after a vehicle wrap is cut, Coroplast after a batch of yard signs, and canvas trimmed from a gallery print.

The Classroom Scrap Sponsorship Program gives that material a second life instead of a trip to the landfill. It’s a small step, but it’s an honest one — and it adds up. Every kit we deliver is material that didn’t become waste.

We’re not claiming to save the planet. We’re a print shop, not a recycling center. But we’d rather see a seven-year-old build something out of our leftover foam board than watch it sit in a dumpster. That math works for us.

Who can sign up?

Huntsville Teachers, This One's for You

The Classroom Scrap Program is currently open to elementary classrooms (K–5) in the Huntsville, Alabama area. Classroom teachers, art teachers, special education teachers, and after-school program coordinators are all welcome to apply.

If you’ve got kids and a table to work on, we’ve got free classroom materials to fill it.

As the program grows, we plan to expand to more grade levels, more schools, and more of the North Alabama community. This is just the beginning.

What we need from you

REQUEST FREE CLASSROOM MATERIALS

The list is short:

      1. A willing teacher — that’s you. Fill out the signup form below and tell us about your classroom.
      2. An administrator who knows about it — we just need someone at your school to be aware and give the okay.
      3. A photo release, if you’re open to it — if you’d like to share photos of student work, we’ll provide a simple release form. This is completely optional and never a requirement to participate.

That’s everything. No applications, no committees, no hoops. We’re a family-owned print shop — we keep things simple.

THANK YOU HUNTSVILLE!

Huntsville, we hear you loud and clear!

PROGRAM UPDATE 5/4/2026:

We launched the Classroom Scrap Program on Friday. By Sunday, eleven Huntsville teachers had signed up. ELEVEN. In two days! Your message is crystal clear: You want art supplies. We’ve got drop. We like where this is headed.

Here’s the plan: we’re delivering our first pilot kit this May to test the process and make sure we get it right. The remaining teachers who signed up this weekend are confirmed for fall deliveries starting in August.

Because Allied assembles and delivers every kit by hand, space is limited each month. Signups will reopen in August 2026 for the new school year. If you want to be first in line when spots open back up, drop your email below — we’ll let you know the moment we’re taking new classrooms.

Thank you, Huntsville. This is exactly why we started this program.
